Plasmid DNA Restriction Mapping Lab

Article No: 15312-01

Students are introduced to two critical tools for DNA analysis: restriction plasmid mapping and gel electrophoresis. Students will analyze restriction digests using gel electrophoresis to determine the plasmid size and the number and approximate location of restriction enzyme recognition sequences. Ready to use: DNA fragment samples are already predigested and prestained Easy to use: detailed experiment information Little preparation time for teachers DNA samples can be pipetted into the gel directly Student kit for 8 lab groups The kit contains the following components: Uncut plasmid, 150 µl Plasmid cut with restriction enzyme 1, 150 µl Plasmid cut with restriction enzyme 2, 150 µl Plasmid cut with both restriction enzymes, 150 µl DNA ladder, 150 µl Download detailed user instructions   Transport at room temperature, store under -18°C immediately upon arrival. Use within 1 year.   TESS advanced Biology set Genetics (15312-88)   When used with the blueGel electrophoresis system 35017-99 (is also included in the Student set Genetics 15312-88), a TBE buffer is also required (e.g. 35018-73).
