Specific heat capacity of water with Cobra SMARTsense

Article No: P1043969

The specific heat capacity describes the ability of a material to absorb thermal energy. It can be determined by measuring the rate of temperature change if both the mass of the heated substance and the supplied heating power are known. Benefits Particularly understandable and didactically prepared description of the experiment (relevance to everyday life etc.) including protocol questions Future-oriented teaching: Integration into digital science lessons with tablets Increased motivation of students by using the intuitive measureAPP Increase of media competence Tasks The students heat 200 ml of water with an electric heating coil and measure the temperature increase as a function of time and examine the electrical power and the amount of heat absorbed by the water. Learning objectives The students learn to determine the specific heat capacity of water experimentally.
